Established July 11, 2007
1. Teens participating in activities must be currently participating in home education and be a VBHE support group member in good standing.
2. Age requirement for participating is 13 to 19.
3. Prior to being dropped off at any teen events, a contact person with a phone number must come in and let the chaperone know how to reach you.
4. Transportation to events must be the parents' and students' responsibility. Chaperones are not expected to function as transporters unless pre-arrangements have been made. Drop off and pick up times will be made clear.
5. Students are to remain in the facility or at the event being attended and a chaperone must be informed prior to the student leaving the grounds. This includes those who have their own car..
6. There will be at least 2 chaperones at each event. Parents should plan on chaperoning at least one of the events.
7. There is to be no alcohol, drugs or tobacco used any VBHE event.
8. Appropriate and modest dress is expected, especially when considering bathing suits for swimming activities. One piece or tankini style bathing suits only please. If you wear a bikini, you must keep a rash guard top or T-shirt on at all times. A large t-shirt will be made available if clothing is deemed inappropriate.
9. Chaperones will be present at beach activities, but parents need to understand that chaperones will not be functioning as lifeguards. If a parent is not comfortable with their child being in a swimming pool or at the beach, please stay with them.
10. If payment is needed for food or cost of an activity, funds will be collected prior to the student participating in the event.
11. If a student is unable to follow the above guidelines, a chaperone may at any time require a parent to pick up their child immediately. A designated person needs to be available in the event this happens.
13. There are to be no open displays of affection (hand holding, kissing, arms around each other etc.) during these events. Please remember, these events are set up as group activities, not as date nights.
14. Students must remain together with the group, no pairing off. Again, these events are set up as group activities.
15. Clean language, polite behavior and respect for chaperones and the other students is expected or a parent will need to come get their child.
16. These guidelines will be sent to each teen to be reviewed by the parent and teen and submitted with signatures that they have been read before attendance to teen activities is allowed.
17. No guest-currently not a member of VBHE -is allowed without parent consent. All guests must sign a code of conduct and the same guest is only allowed at 2 events per year.
