PSAT
Students can take the PSAT in October to begin preparing them for the SAT. The PSAT is a "practice SAT" and, like most standardized tests, can be used for evaluation. What sets the PSAT apart from other standardized tests is that there is independent scholarship money tied to exceptional performance. The PSAT is not required but can be a great asset to your student's portfolio. The PSAT can be given to any student as practice but only 11th graders will be considered for the scholarship money. You can no longer sign up for the PSAT online. You have to go to your local testing site (public or private school) and sign up. This needs to be done in time for the school to order the correct number of tests. (check online for testing site locations) www.collegeboard.com SAT We recommend that a student take the SAT the first time during the Spring of their Sophomore year without prep or stress as a baseline test. Then you and your student know the areas that need work. NEW WEBSITE!!!! http://sat.collegeboard.org/home If your student is a junior (11th grader) and plans to attend college, you need to register him or her for the ACT/SAT as soon as possible. They can take the test as many times as it is offered, but scholarship deadlines are usually Feb 1 of their Senior year (12th Grade), so they really only have until the fall of their Senior year to get the high score they want. College and Universities usually require a minimum ACT score of 21 and SAT equivalent. LINKS: Click here to register for the ACTClick here to register for the SAT
